Review and fundraising

I am delighted to be able to report that the first Funny Women Challenge was a huge success!

The stars of the show, in order of appearance, were Michelle Rodger,
better known to tweeters as @tartancat

Ruth Walker, who co-ordinates fundraising for this amazing charity

Jackie Cameron, phenomenal public speaker and now outstanding comedian

Karen Birch, who has created a monster in the fan club that now exists for her mother and who has bravely or foolishly allowed the video of her performing on the night to be posted here!

Pat Elliot, who confessed to having done stand-up before and was fab

and Pam Lyall, who was perhaps the least sure about the whole thing at the start of the week,

but who was absolutely brilliant

I’d also like to thank Judith Wilson for making sure that everything ran smoothly on the night and Janey Godley who was absolutely superb and soothed the nerves of us virgin comedians as well as performing superbly herself. If you get a chance to see Janey in stand up, take it, she’s amazing.  Thanks to Lynne Parker who gave us novices the confidence to be able to stand up mand be funny and to the wonderful SuzyB who came and showed us how it should be done!

All of these women, and the six budding funny women gave their time totally FREE OF CHARGE on the night. So I say again a huge THANK YOU.  And to staff at The Dram! who were patient and generous throughout. And thanks to everyone who came along on the night and who laughed and clapped and cheered and helped raise a stunning £1,000 for Good Shepherd Healthcare.

This short video will explain far better than I can why it is so important that we support this charity and why we will continue to do so.

So please continue to support this great cause. We will continue to develop initiatives to raise funds and raise the profile of Good Shepherd Healthcare and the Dalit Freedom Network and your continued support is appreciated. You can make your donation,  here.

The3rdimagazine is a member owned co-operative.  In addition to producing the magazine each month we run events, like Stand Up for Dalits, to raise funds and awareness for women’s aid organisations.  For example Fair Comment is a business support initiative which raises money for the Women’s Fund. We need your support to be able to run these, and other, programmes.  You can find more information and join our community HERE. Thanks
