Diane’s Diary
Here is the next update for readers of the3rdi.

Well what a whirlwind at the moment. Where do I start? Let’s start with the ball. I never realised how hard it would be. I have to do something everyday, whether it is selling tickets, chasing people, chasing payments, menus, table plans, prizes, you name it, it’s all in there. I’m sure it will all be worthwhile in the end but it just takes so much time. We have some great prizes now for the raffle and the auction. The top prize is a million pound holiday home in Spain, which sleeps 9 so that should get people bidding. We have some great spa weekends, and some truly fabulous sporting memorabilia. We have even had donated, a motor home for the weekend! For the raffle, we have a laptop and camera and a TV, plus loads of excellent prizes. People have been really generous. So it is all systems go for it now. I’m really getting excited, and really want everyone to have a good time and it be a huge success.

We have had some great publicity for the event as well. I am being tracked by yourselves and Derby Radio, so I had to go on there and do a show. We did a collection at Derby County Football Club and handed out thousands of leaflets! It has been in the local paper promoting the ball and of course the fabulous cause as well.

In between all of that I have had to train as well. Through the community networking that I have been doing, Virgin very kindly offered their health spa to train in during the winter. The reason I have to train in the gym in the winter is because it is getting cold now and dark. Believe me it is hard enough being visible on the bike in the summer never mind the winter so I didn’t want to take the risk. Plus I need all over body strength and not just my legs for the bike.

So off I go to the gym! I have a personal trainer there who helps me. He has worked out a plan for me to work to. I really find the gym boring. I find it hard to get motivated when you get home and its dark, so to get back off the settee is difficult, but when I have days like that then I just have to tell myself its not about me and I have to go. So at the moment, my routine consists of a step aerobics class, a spinning class, a cardio workout and a swim. I am getting on with it but it is really hard at the moment what with the ball. I really need about 30 hours in a day.

However, I have lost weight and inches and my ball dress even had to be altered, so it’s not all bad! I can also sit on the bike now for 5 hours so progress is being made!

I will keep you informed and let you know how the ball goes.
